Project Space

 

This semester me and Morgan Kinne decided to collaborate for the C02 Project Space. I was very happy with this collaboration, not only because we are good friends, but also because I respect Morgan’s line of work and we are quite different. Morgan’s work strikes to be more elegant were mine may be considered to be loud. After discussing different ways of using the space, we decided to divide the space and create our on work. We wanted to create an awkward environment where the two works would have a conformational relationship. In our surprise the two works ended up complimenting each other, creating an effective use of space. 

 

The crit wen’t very well and we received good feedback. The comments for my work where about movement and action and the effectiveness of its scale and for Morgan’s where of time and its materials. They also clearly noticed the relationship between the two.

 

Before the opening of the project space I was lucky enough to have a tutorial with my tutor Keith. We spoke about different ways of taking the work to the next level, maybe by adding furniture or using a different wall in the space (the one that is on the entrance) and how that might have given a different perspective of it. Overall he was happy of the work and of the relationship between the two. I was surprised that my mural (and work) reminded him of Raymond Pettibon ( artist of the Black Flag covers).

Project Space C02

Yesterday myself and Katie Bootland presented our Project Space in C02. The title was ‘Transcendence”. The crit went very well, got some really good feedback, and also the tutors seemed very interested in our project. The only thing they disagreed with was the title. They said it was too bombastic and that they would have preferred a more elegant and light title, but couldn’t provide us of an alternative title. After uninstalling we have been thinking of re exhibiting the installation, still don’t know were or when. Here are some pictures from yesterdays crit.

Tomorrow on the 15th of March at 15:30, myself and Katie Bootland, will be presenting our Project Space in C02, at the Edinburgh College of Art, at 74 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh.  There will also be beverages 😀
